From the Borneo Rainforest
01
Surrounded by a 130 million year old rainforest, SABAH TEA is grown in the village of Ranau on the tropical island of Borneo, 2,272 feet above sea level among the rolling foothills of Mount Kinabalu.
Sabah TEA GARDEN is the largest single commercial tea plantation in Borneo. It is also one of the very few tea gardens in the world that is certified to produce organic tea. Its approximate area of 1,000 acres is endowed with an interesting plant known as Camellia Sinensis and it is from this plant’s leaves and buds that we get our superior tea.
Rich highland soil, plentiful rainfall and the cool mountain climate provide a picturesque annd perfect environment for the tea to flourish. It is from this green paradise that SABAH TEA gains its unique flavour and full-bodied aroma which is distinctive, yet subtle in character.

Our unique relationship with nature
Unlike most brands of tea, SABAH TEA consists of only tea leaves picked from its own 2,480 hectare plantation and this allows us to protect our tea’s quality and ensure that the leaves are 100% oesticide-free!
Because of its unique relationship with nature, the SABAH TEA harvest is left untouched by insects as they are drawn more towards the surrounding rainforests.
Hence, there is no need for pesticides, resulting in the end product being not only 100% pesticide-free, but also colouring and preservative-free. This not only further contributes to the preservation of the surrounding flora and fauna, but makes SABAH TEA a truly healthy beverage for a healthy lifestyle.

Founded 1978 - Sabah Tea Garden
03
SABAH TEA GARDEN’s origin can be tracked back to the year 1976 when Sabah decided to offer 6,200 acres of land in Kampung Nalapak for tea plantation development. SABAH TEA was then incorporated in 1978 to operate and manage the SABAH TEA GARDEN.
In 1987, SABAH TEA formed a joint-venture with Tate & Lyle, associated with Commonwealth Development Corporation, the partnership successfully tapping onto Tate & Lyle’s tea expertise.
In 1997, Ipoh-based public-listed company YEE LEE CORP acquired SABAH TEA and since then they have continued to cultivate SABAH TEA GARDEN into a greater success.
